2 types of Gerflor welds

Gerflor offers 2 types of welding solutions: joint welding and cold seaming.

What is joint welding?

A welding rod is placed between the two floor coverings and heated up. Rising temperatures melt the rod, which fuses it firmly to the floor covering.

Joint welding is used on all PVC floor types for coving systems, sports floors and wooden floors. Thanks to its main installation feature, it ensures complete waterproofing and is essential for humid areas, communal kitchens, sports floors etc.

What is cold seaming?

It consists of inserting a special product between the two slightly open floor coverings.

Cold seaming can be used on any type of vinyl flooring on rolls except for homogeneous products. It is quick to install and only takes around half as long, compared to traditional joint welding with a rod.

With a water-based formula, cold seaming is environmentally friendly and removes all issues involving welding rod storage. It also does not require specific material, a simple two-component cartridge is sufficient.
